Power in the hands of few
Philosophy
Steve Saleen was a Formula Atlantic racing driver who founded Saleen Autosport in 1983 with three Mustangs and a belief that an American car could compete with Europe's best on a road course. The Saleen Mustang dominated SCCA racing through the 1980s, finishing 1-2-3 in 1988, and built the brand's reputation on motorsport credibility rather than straight-line numbers.
That credibility culminated in 2000 with the Saleen S7 — America's first true production supercar. Mid-engine, carbon-bodied, with a 7.0L V8 and butterfly doors, the S7 won four GT championships in 2001 and broke records at Le Mans. It remains the only Saleen production car not based on an existing chassis. Today, Saleen is recognized as an Original Equipment Manufacturer, building modified Mustangs and the all-electric S1 alongside its motorsport heritage from its Corona, California headquarters.
